            Money and War

How do soldiers get the supplies and everything they need during war? From money, but where does this money come from and how much money is needed?

According to 130 Questions Children Ask about War and Terrorists, the money needed for war comes from the working class paying their taxes. Certain amounts of money are taken from their taxes and used to help defend the country. HNN tells about an income tax passed by Congress. This income tax states the required amount of money that is to be taken out for the cost of war. HNN states," That progressive tax began at 1 percent for married couples making over $4,000 and rose to 7 percent on incomes making over $500,000." However, other countries may help pay for war if they need our help or if we have defended their country.

Have you ever thought about how expensive war is? Well if you have or have not, war is VERY expensive. The cost of war differs depending on which war it is. The cost is determined by which war it is, because it depends on how many soldiers there are, how much food is needed, the certain amount of supplies that are needed, the cost of hospitalization and long-term care of tens of thousands of wounded veterans, interest payments on war time debt, replacement of worn out equipment, and many other things.
The Iraq war is a very expensive war. According to nationalpriorities.com, this war is still being paid for. Nationalpriorities.com states, "Every hour, taxpayers in the United States are paying 824,328 for [the] cost of war in Iraq since 2003." About.com estimates the cost of different things needed during the Iraq war. About.com estimates the cost of the initial deployment of troops to be $9-$13 billion, the cost of the conduction of the war to be $6-$9 billion per month, the delivery of the troops back to the U.S. to be $5-$7 billion, and the temporary occupation of Iraq to be $1-$4 billion per month. Do you believe that much money should be spent on war?

I believe that the amount of money spent on war is a lot; however, it is needed. Without money, war would be practically impossible. Our soldiers would not be able to survive. We would lose many battles because we would not have enough equipment. Our lives would change dramatically. Many people believe that we could avoid war and the expensive it carries; however, I do not believe that is possible. There are always going to be arguments between two or more countries. When two or more countries argue and can not come to an agreement, that is when we have war. I do not think no two countries are going to sit down together and try to fix problems they can not come to an agreement on. If they would do that, we would not have any wars thus far. Therefore, to fix problems between two or more countries, we have war and war would not be possible without money.
